The Planning Phase is critical in successfully delivering any project. During this phase, the Delivery Team works to document project requirements, perform stakeholder interviews, assign tasks and responsibilities, and set up communication channels. Finally, obtaining approvals on Planning documents is important before moving on to the Execution Phase.
It is important to identify all stakeholders who will have a voice in the project and understand their requirements. The Delivery team should perform several stakeholder interviews to define the project's scope. These interviews should focus on understanding the stakeholders’ expectations and uncovering technical limitations and requirements. Templates and sample questions are available, along with other scoping resources, in the Client> Planning folder.
Design and planning meetings are essential for brainstorming ideas, identifying potential risks, and developing solutions for the project. Involving other Delivery and Engineering Team members in these meetings is critical to ensure the project uses the most up-to-date and scalable solutions. The Delivery Team should use its best judgment to determine the necessary number of planning sessions — depending on project need.
