Kinetic Data is a high-performance, fast-paced environment where a lot is demanded of you and by you of each other. We love what we do and we love doing it from anywhere, working remotely and often blending our work and personal lives.
At the same time, like star athletes, our growth and peak performance benefit greatly from the ability to interleave periods of exertion with periods of rest and reflection.
Paid Time Off is a process to help ensure you develop a strong practice of self-care by managing your time around work, family, friends, and all the things that matter most to you and unplugging from your work responsibilities.
Kinetic Data does not differentiate sick days from PTO days, so you are free to use your time off at your discretion. With our current work-from-home and remote-first work practice, we leave it up to you to manage your time when you do not feel well enough to work. If you need to fully unplug from work, communicate with your manager and otherwise follow the process outlined for PTO Days.
If you have a medical condition you know will take you away from work regularly, please work with Human Resources for accommodations.
We recognize that your life outside of Kinetic Data often includes community commitments, whether for youth sports, a service organization, or any number of other activities that rely upon volunteers. We encourage such involvement as it enriches our lives beyond just taking vacation time to rest and relax. Kinetic Data provides for up to 5 days of paid leave for Community Service, and Community Service Days do not carry over. We ask that you please follow the protocol outlined for PTO Days and plan accordingly.
When you are planning to take time off, please do the following
Communicate your Paid Time Off (PTO) request with your manager to avoid potential schedule conflicts and allow for proper planning of your absence
Enter PTO into

Once your PTO is approved,
Please enter your planned PTO as an "event" and not "out of office" in the Kinetic Data Administrator calendar in Google Calendar, which is accessed in the dropdown menu selection of calendars to which you are subscribed.
Please enter your planned PTO on your personal calendar as "Out of Office," and select your preferences for managing emails and include your PTO backup contact details.
Inform your colleagues early and often of your planned vacation
If you are customer-facing, inform customers of your planned vacation and of your backup

When you lose a loved one, you can take paid time off from work for bereavement, make arrangements, settle family affairs, and attend the funeral or memorial service. Let your manager know your plans as soon as possible so they can arrange for your absence. We will provide up to 5 additional days of Bereavement Leave. If you need more time, please talk with your manager to work out the necessary details.
In addition, Kinetic Data offers up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave that can be used in the first year following the birth or adoption of a child or placement of a foster child for either parent.
We recognize that life may well throw unexpected complications in your path that require additional time beyond what is provided in our benefit plans. If you have such requirements, please talk with your manager to determine what arrangement might be possible.
We will provide up to three weeks of additional paid that can be used in combination with your five weeks of Vacation Days for a total of 8 weeks of paid leave.
