Harvest
Harvest is a time-tracking tool that helps businesses manage their time and resources efficiently. With Harvest, teams can easily track time spent on projects, set budgets, and generate invoices. Accurate time tracking is crucial for the company to determine project profitability and allocate resources effectively.
Here are some key features of Harvest that team members should know:
Project Overview: Team members should review their budgets frequently to ensure they are on track and within the project's scope. By doing so, they can identify potential issues early and take corrective action.
Engagement Style: The entire team needs to understand the billing constraints of a project. Harvest can support time-and-materials (T&M) and Fixed-Bid contracts, allowing team members to track their time and bill customers correctly. With Harvest, team members can differentiate between billable and non-billable time, ensuring we invoice only billable time to customers. Time Tracking: Team members should track their time and project budgets regularly to ensure they are on track and within the project's scope. By doing so, they can identify potential issues early and take corrective action. Deliver Team members should track time in a minimum of 15-minute increments. A good rule of thumb is that if a team member spends less than 5 minutes on a task, there’s no need to track that item. Always consider the time spent ramping up and context switching between tasks and round up anything more than 5 minutes. Group similar tasks together to efficiently use your time and the customer’s budget.
Timers and Accuracy: Harvest has a timer feature that allows team members to start and stop a timer for specific tasks. A timer can help ensure that Delivery Team members track easily by starting and stopping the timer. Team members should review their time entries regularly to ensure they are accurate and complete.
